Teaching Listening by Using Dictogloss Method Incorporating with Podcast: A Systematic Literature Review

Abstract


This study examines the effectiveness of using the Dictogloss method incorporated with podcast media in improving the listening comprehensions of EFL students. A systematic literature review was used to analyze studies published between 2015 and 2025. The findings indicate that the use of the Dictogloss method incorporated with podcasts is an effective approach to improving students' listening comprehension through the process of reconstructing authentic audio-based texts. Dictogloss has been proven to encourage active participation in listening and writing, while podcasts provide exposure to spoken language in real-life contexts that support vocabulary, sentence structure, and overall comprehension improvement. The integration of Dictogloss method and Podcast also supports collaborative learning, develops motivation, and creates an interactive and contextual learning environment. Although there are some challenges in technical implementation and student readiness, the potential for using the Dictogloss method incorporated with podcasts as a listening teaching strategy in EFL classrooms is significant. Its effectiveness depends on the selection of suitable materials, teacher support, and proper integration into learning.
