Abstract

Tuna oil (Thunnus sp) was estimated had a bioactive soul which could block the growth of bacteria. This research aimed to know the effectiveness of Tuna oil (Thunnus sp) as an antibacterials toward the growth of bacteria. This research was done at March until July 2017. Tuna oil used was tuna oil that was obtained from Pacitan auction fish and Madiun traditional market, while the antibactericals activity test was using disk diffusion method. The result of research showed that Tuna oil could blockĀ  the growth of E. coli and S. aureus bacteria which was showed with clear zone around the extract. The amount of blocked zone toward E. coli bacteria was 3,5 mm, while S. aureus bacteria was 2,6 mm. Between two bacteria tested with Tuna oil, E. coli bacteria showed the smaller resistance that could be showed by blocked zone which was bigger than S. aureus bacteria.
