Abstract

Hydroponics is one of the advanced technologies that can be applied to produce good quality of vegetables, throughout the year, and in sufficient quantities. Hydroponics technology is a way of cultivating plants without using soil media as a growing medium, or in other words using soil culture media (soiless culture). Research on hydroponics has been widely practiced. However, existing hydroponic technology innovations are not yet possible for farmers to implement because most farmers are farmers with little capital and do not yet have adequate hydroponic knowledge. Therefore, it is necessary to develop hydroponic technology by considering the complexity of technology, initial capital, and operational cost. Research have conducted using Reasearch and Development method to develop natural-based Hydroponics technology, named Natural Hydroponic Technology (NHT). The research was conducted in Dusun Gempol, Ngesrep Balong, Limbangan, Kendal with altitude of place 900 mdpl. NHT technology utilizes water sources from streams which are then channeled to NHT beds. NHT technology has been able to operate and be tested on a limited basis on pakcoi plants until harvest time.
