PENERAPAN METODE BELAJAR BERBASIS PERMAINAN UNTUK MENINGKATKAN MOTIVASI BELAJAR MATEMATIKA SISWA KELAS II SEKOLAH DASAR NEGERI 4 GELANGKULON
Abstract
This research aims to analyze the application of game-based learning methods to enhance the mathematics learning motivation of second-grade students at SDN 4 Gelangkulon. The challenge faced in primary school mathematics education is the students' perception that mathematics is difficult and less engaging, leading to low learning motivation. Classroom Action Research (CAR) was employed as the research method, involving teachers as researchers to improve teaching practices in their classrooms. The subjects of this study were 15 second-grade students at SDN 4 Gelangkulon, consisting of 7 male and 8 female students (Note: The provided text states 10 students with 4 males and 6 females in the methodology section, but the tables show 15 students without gender breakdown. I have used the most recent provided abstract's numbers: 15 students, 7 male and 8 female). Data collection techniques included observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted quantitatively for questionnaires (using descriptive statistics and percentages) and qualitatively for observations, interviews, and documentation. The research results indicate an increase in students' learning motivation after the application of the game-based method. In Cycle I, although a fun atmosphere was created, some students remained passive and struggled to understand game rules. In Cycle II, after modifications, students became more motivated, active, and confident. In conclusion, game-based learning is effective in creating a more positive and productive learning environment and successfully enhances the mathematics learning motivation of second-grade students at SDN 4 Gelangkulon.
