Implementasi Program Literasi Membaca dalam Meningkatkan Pemahaman Siswa di SMAN 1 Jiwan

ABSTRACT

Literacy is the ability to understand and process information while reading and writing. By participating in literacy activities, students can gain extensive knowledge because literacy is closely related to critical thinking skills. In schools, literacy activities are carried out by using various reference sources, implementing strategies in the learning process, and combining literacy strategies with problem-solving activities. Thus, this article aims to analyze the role of literacy in improving students' comprehension skills and the implementation of a literacy culture in schools. This research is a field research. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research, the data collection instrument is observation. The data in this study are the results of interviews with residents of SMA N 1 Jiwan. Data analysis is carried out by data reduction, then data presentation after the data is selected and the results of observations and interviews are described and the results are arranged into an organized sentence, the final step is verification of the findings from the data analysis. The findings show that a literacy culture has a very important role in improving students' critical thinking skills. The higher the students' literacy skills, the higher the level of critical thinking of the students.
