Digital Literacy: Dissemination of Knowledge about Digital Security towards "Cyber Security" for the Community Social Media Users

Abstract

Currently, information technology is developing very rapidly, making it easy for many people to obtain information, manage and store it in various forms. Ironically, this information technology creates complex problems and can threaten the lives of individuals and groups of society. Residents of Rukun Tetangga (RT) 51 Perum. Taman Salak Madiun City, as an example of an organization at the Community Level, has many social activities, such as community gatherings, community recitations, and elderly exercise. In every activity, he always uses technology as a means of communication with the WhatsApp group or via other social media such as Facebook, IG or line messenger on mobile devices. On average, all citizens are only users, without caring about the security of the data stored in their device's memory. This is very dangerous for active users, especially those related to the world of social media. Seeing this phenomenon, the community service team wants to provide outreach about the appropriate and safe use of mobile, especially in social media. The aims and objectives of this service are to increase awareness among active users, the target being the PKK RT 51 social gathering group. The method used to achieve the aims and targets is through several stages, first analyzing information needs based on existing data in the community of service partners. Next, a mechanism for increasing digital literacy and security awareness of citizens is created. The final stage is developing strategies in the form of images, digital content and multimedia related to the importance of information security, especially cyber security. The final results show that residents of RT 51 Taman Salak have improved their ability to understand information security when using social media services.
