Abstract


The purpose of this study is to improve the independence of children in group A at the Pembina State Kindergarten in Taman Kota Madiun through the medium of engklek games, to improve the discipline of children in group A at the Pembina State Kindergarten in Taman Kota Madiun through the medium of engklek games. This study used a qualitative approach with a type of research called Classroom Action Research (CAR), which consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection carried out collaboratively in two cycles. The subjects of this study were 15 students in Group A at the Pembina State Kindergarten, consisting of 10 boys and 5 girls. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation and documentation of children's behavior with data analysis through data reduction, data presentation, data extraction, and verification. The results showed that independence and discipline could be improved using the engklek game. The increase in the independence of children in the very good (BSB) category was seen from the pre-cycle percentage of 53%, which increased to 66% in cycle I and reached 86% in cycle II. Meanwhile, the increase in discipline among children in the very good (BSB) category started at 47% in the pre-cycle, increased to 60% in cycle I, and reached 80% in cycle II. The conclusion of this study is that hopscotch can be an alternative innovative learning method to foster independence and discipline through fun rules for children in group A at the Pembina State Kindergarten in Taman Kota Madiun District
