Abstract
Abstract
The phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) is increasingly common among adolescents on social media. This study aims to describe students’ self image, identify the causes of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO),, and analyze its impact on self-image development. The research used a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. The subjects were three students of SMP Negeri 2 Balerejo selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and observation. The results showed that Fear of Missing Out (FOMO), arises from the desire not to be left behind by trends, social pressure, and emotional needs. Fear of Missing Out (FOMO), affects the formation of self-image, which is largely shaped by external validation on social media. This study emphasizes the role of guidance and counseling teachers and parents in helping adolescents build a healthy self image in the digital era
