MORFOLOGI GENITRI (Elaeocarpus ganitrus Roxb.) SEBUAH KAJIAN BOTANI TERPADU
Abstract
Elaeocarpus ganitrus Roxb. merupakan jenis tumbuhan tropis lokal Indonesia termasuk famili Elaeocarpaceae. Tumbuhan ini tumbuh di kawasan hutan atau di tepi jalan sebagai pohon peneduh, bijinya sering dimanfaatkan sebagai perhiasan. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengkaji karakter dan ciri morfologis tumbuhan genitri sebagai dasar kajian identifikasi taksonomi. Metode pengambilan data secara observasi pada organ vegetatif yaitu batang, daun, dan akar, serta dan organ generatif yaitu bunga, buah, dan biji. Validitas data penelitian berdasarkan standarisasi morfologis tumbuhan untuk dideskripsikan ciri-cirinya didasarkan pada terminologi botani tumbuhan genitri dan prinsip-prinsip taksonomi tumbuhan genitri. Analisis data secara diskriptif disajikan dalam bentuk tabel dan foto mikrograf berskala. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: 1) Tumbuhan genitri merupakan pohon tinggi mencapai ketinggian 15 - 20 m; 2) Jenis daun tunggal, tersusun spiral, permukaan daun mengkilap dan tepi daun bergigi halus; 3) Batang tumbuhan bentuk bulat, berkayu dan keras; 4) Biji warna coklat, diameter bervariasi, endokarp keras dengan dinding lignifikasi kuat, berlekuk-lekuk adanya mukhi dengan jumlah alur bervariasi; 5) Buah muda berwarna hijau, bila sudah tua berwarna ungu, bentuk buah bulat seperti bola, diameter 0,5 cm - 3,5 cm; 6) Jenis bunga majemuk, mahkota bunga berwarna kuning mirip lonceng, terdapat tonjolan bunga yang berambut.
