Abstract

Kata Kunci: social support, innovative climate, innovative work behavior.

Abstract

Amid the rapid advance of digital transformation, public sector organizations face a pressing need for employees who can sustain innovative work behavior (IWB) as a means of improving the quality of public service delivery. With this concern in mind, the study addresses three central issues: how social support influences IWB, how innovative climate contributes to IWB, and whether innovative climate is capable of moderating the link between social support and IWB. Focusing on employees of the Population and Civil Registration Office (DISDUKCAPIL) of Madiun Regency, the study drew on all 44 employees as respondents through a saturated sampling approach. A quantitative framework guided the research, with data collected via a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Analysis revealed that social support has a positive and significant influence on IWB, evidenced by a β value of 0.870 (p = 0.000). A similar, though comparatively more modest, pattern was observed for innovative climate, which also showed a positive and significant effect on IWB (β = 0.139; p = 0.036). Notably, the presence of innovative climate was found to strengthen the effect of social support on IWB, as indicated by β = 0.029 and p = 0.026. These findings suggest that strengthening social support from both supervisors and coworkers should be pursued alongside efforts to build an organizational climate conducive to innovation, so that employees' innovative work behavior can be sustained and consistently enhanced.
