LITERASI DIGITAL PENGGUNAAN GADGET RAMAH ANAK DAN PERAN PARENTING ORANG TUA DESA MANGLIAWAN KABUPATEN MALANG

Abstract


Social Phenomenon of the Impact of Gadget Use on Children results in disturbances: Mental Health (Widiastuti, D., 2020), Cognitive Development (Puspita, D. A., & Utami, N., 2021), Sleep Disorders (Rahmawati, A., & Yuliana, E., 2022), and Physical Health (Setiawan, B., & Aulia, S., 2021). This community service activity aims to enhance the knowledge of PKK mothers regarding the safe use of gadgets and to foster good interaction between parents and children when utilizing digital technology. The methods used include a presentation of material and discussions themed on digital literacy, gadget use, and the practice of using educational applications that are safe for children. The participants were the PKK mothers of RT.05 RW.05 in Mangliawan Village, Pakis District, Malang Regency, conducted on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at the residence of the PKK Chairwoman. Participants demonstrated an increase in understanding of digital literacy. Before the activity, participants had a limited understanding of how to assist children in using gadgets, whereas after the activity, the mothers felt equipped with knowledge to guide their children in gadget use. Recommendations from the Dr. Soetomo University Community Service Team for future activities include: the need for follow-up in creating and developing safe and child-friendly applications, the necessity for regular discussion groups for participants to share parenting experiences regarding gadget use for children, and the need for guidelines on gadget use for participants.
