Abstract


ABSTRACT

 

This study aims to determine the effect of Learning Cycle 5E learning model to improve students' metacognition skills. This research type is quasi experiment with research design of non-equivalent control group design at grade VII student of SMPN 1 Kayen Kidul done on April 20 until May 10, 2017. The sample in this research is obtained from equality test of mean value of test So as to obtain class VII E as an experimental group subject to learning with Learning Cycle 5E and class VII B as a control group that is subject to Direct Instruction learning. The instrument used to support this research is metacognition skill measurement in the form of pretest-posttest which is integrated in test of cognitive learning result. Data were analyzed statistically anakova with the help of program SPSS 21,0 for Windows at 5% significance level. The results showed that there were differences of metacognition skill between control and experiment group (α = 0,017 < 0,05). It was concluded that the Learning Cycle 5E learning model improves metacognition skills of grade VII students of SMPN 1 Kayen Kidul.
