Abstract

This research aims to examine the role of the Sharia Supervisory Board (SSB) in the Islamic Performance Index (IPI) of Islamic banks. IPI is an indicator used to measure the performance of Islamic banks based on Sharia principles. DPS plays a key role in ensuring that Islamic banks operate in accordance with Islamic law and its principles. This study approximates SSB with the variables of SSB size, SSB dual positions, and SSB meetings. The research was conducted on Islamic banks with data spanning from 2015 to 2020. The analysis employs multiple linear regression using a random effect model. The results indicate that the size of SSB has a negative impact on Zakat Performance Ratio (ZPR) but does not affect Profit Sharing Ratio (PSR) and Equitable Distribution Ratio (EDR). On the other hand, dual positions in DPS have a positive impact on ZPR and EDR but negatively affect PSR. The number of SSB meetings positively influences ZPR but does not have an impact on PSR and EDR..
