IMPLEMENTATION OF MULTICULTURAL EDUCATION INEDUCATIONALPERSPECTIVE FOR CROSS CULTURAL PSYCHOLOGYSTUDY IN INDONESIA

Abstract


As a country with a cultural background, ethnicity, language and religion are very diverse, Indonesia require strategic approaches and instruments that can be used as a national movement to realize the unity, the unity and integrity of the nation to become a sovereign nation and dignity. One instrument approach is through multicultural education. Multicultural education is a progressive approach for transforming education that holistically criticize and expose weaknesses, failures and discrimination in education. Multicultural education as an instrument of social engineering in order to encourage schools can play a role in instilling awareness in multicultural communities and develop an attitude of tolerance weeks to realize the need and ability to cooperate with all the differences that exist. The practice of multicultural education in Indonesia can be flexible, not necessarily in the form of separate subjects or monolithic. Implementation of multicultural education is based on five dimensions:1) the integration of content; 2) the process of formulating knowledge; 3) reduce prejudice; 4) similar pedagogy, and 5) school culture and structure that empowers schools. Cross cultural assessment to implement multicultural education in Indonesia in the perspective of education in the future. The introduction of the group as an individual's identity will facilitate the treatment of cross cultural research. If a person has individual cultural orientation in line with the cultural orientation of other individuals where to stay, there will be consistency between the element behavior, feelings, and cognitive of social behavior
